Freely based on “La Dame Aux Camélia” (Alexandre Dumas jr.), the miniseries tells the tale of the romantic and tormented love story between Violetta Valéry, a young courtesan disillusioned with love, and Alfredo Gérmont, a young revolutionary student, during the scorching years of Italian Unification. In addition to the two young lovers’ affair, Violetta describes the Italians’ wish to break free from Austrian rule and help build a free and independent Italian nation.
