CERTI BAMBINI

Rosario lives in a council house in Naples with Grandma Lilina. His life alternates between the cramped walls of his home and the beer hall where he meets his buddies everyday: the “certain children”, who pack around him, drink, smoke, mug, have sex with prostitutes, absorb and repeat the worst the adult world has built around them. One afternoon, Rosario puts on a soccer outfit and leaves the house, takes the subway to an unknown destination. On the journey, he recalls the most important moments of his past, in which the central figures of his life come to the fore: Damiano, the bad teacher who taught him to be a criminal; Santino, Damiano’s opposite, a positive alter ego who can lead him along the path to salvation and legality; and Caterina, the girl who will test his indifference. She is pretty, ironic, unknowingly seductive, capable of tenderness and detachment.  And he is in love with her.

Rosario alternately jumps from one track of his double life to the other: on one hand, the rusty and fierce track on which the train of street life shoots violently past; on the other, the tame and controlled track where life from good deeds heads neatly toward its goal.

Rosario, meanwhile, has reached his destination… He gets off, slips into a bar and waits for the signal… which one?
